Collect Privacy Policy

1. Information Collect handles

Your journal and media

Collect lets you create a private photo journal containing photos, titles, notes, tags, dates, albums, and display settings. It also stores preferences, reminders, purchase entitlement state, and app-lock settings needed to operate the app.

This information is stored on your device. The App Developer does not receive your journal content merely because you use Collect.

Photos may contain metadata supplied by your Photo Library, including capture date, camera information, and precise location. Collect can use capture date and location metadata on your device to place photos on the appropriate calendar day and may preserve that metadata in original photos, backups, and data exports.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud Sync, Collect copies your journal content to your private iCloud database so it can be backed up, restored, and synchronized through your Apple account. Synced information may include:

• original photos and their embedded metadata;
• titles, notes, dates, tags, and album names;
• internal record identifiers and filenames; and
• layout, ordering, and photo-framing settings.

iCloud Sync is optional. Apple operates iCloud and handles this information under Apple’s privacy policy. Collect does not place your journal content on a server operated by the App Developer.

Turning off iCloud Sync stops future synchronization but does not automatically remove information already stored in iCloud. See “Retention and deletion” below.

Analytics

Collect sends limited pseudonymous analytics to PostHog in the United States to understand feature usage, reliability, and performance. Analytics includes a randomly generated installation identifier and information such as:

• app version, major iOS version, and coarse device class;
• app sessions and screens viewed;
• fixed categories describing feature use and navigation;
• whether an entry contains a title or notes, and bucketed counts such as numbers of photos, tags, entries, or results;
• rounded operation duration, success or failure, and fixed failure categories; and
• interactions with onboarding, reminders, iCloud Sync, exports, purchases, video, and collage features.

Collect does not send PostHog your photos, thumbnails, titles, notes, tag or album names, search text, dates, filenames, URLs, CloudKit identifiers, email address, purchase or transaction identifiers, advertising identifier, or precise location. Session replay, automatic screen or element capture, advertising tracking, and PostHog person profiles are disabled.

PostHog’s bundled privacy declarations also include product interaction, other usage data, and a crash-reporting dependency’s crash and other diagnostic data. Collect disables that dependency’s automatic crash capture in the shipping configuration, but conservatively discloses the diagnostic categories present in the combined Xcode privacy report.

Collect does not sell personal information or use analytics for targeted advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Anonymous analytics is enabled by default. You can stop future analytics collection at any time by turning off Share Usage Analytics in Settings > About. Turning it off takes effect immediately and prevents future analytics events from being sent. The setting remains off unless you turn it on again.

Analytics is retained by PostHog for up to 12 months. PostHog’s handling of information is also governed by PostHog’s privacy notice.

Support and feedback

If you contact support, Collect opens an email that you choose whether to send. The email may contain your address, message, and any other information you add.

When the in-app mail composer is available, Collect attaches a visible text diagnostics file. It contains the app version and settings, device family and model identifier, iOS version, processor count, low-power state, counts of albums, entries, drafts, photos, and tags, and up to 300 recent operational log lines. It is designed to exclude journal content, photos, filenames, record identifiers, account details, email addresses, URLs, and your assigned device name. You can review or remove the attachment before sending.

Support emails and attachments are normally retained for no more than 90 days after the request is resolved, unless they are needed longer for security, legal, or record-keeping reasons.

Purchases

Apple processes Collect purchases through the App Store. Collect reads StoreKit entitlement information on your device to determine whether you can create unlimited entries. Collect’s analytics records purchase and restore actions only as fixed categories and does not send transaction or product identifiers to PostHog. Apple handles purchase and payment information under its own privacy policy.

2. How information is used

Information is handled only as needed to:

• provide the journal, calendar, reminders, app lock, backup, sync, import, export, sharing, purchase, video, and collage features you choose;
• improve feature usability, reliability, and performance using limited analytics;
• respond to support or feedback you send; and
• protect and maintain Collect.

Collect does not sell or rent your information.

3. Permissions, imports, exports, and sharing

Collect may request:

• Photos access to let you select photos, show days containing photos, and save generated photos, cards, collages, or videos;
• Camera access to take still photos for entries;
• Notifications to provide reminders; and
• Face ID or Touch ID to unlock Collect when you enable biometric app locking. Apple performs the biometric comparison; Collect receives only the result and does not receive your face or fingerprint data.

Collect does not request live Location Services access. It may read location already embedded in a photo that you permit it to access.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.

When you export or share content, you choose the destination, such as Photos, Files, Mail, the iOS share sheet, or another installed app. The destination’s operator then handles that exported information under its own terms and privacy policy. A portable data export may include original photo metadata, including location.

4. Service providers

Collect relies on:

• Apple for the App Store, StoreKit purchases, iCloud/CloudKit, system permissions, notifications, biometrics, Photos, Files, and sharing; and
• PostHog for pseudonymous product analytics.

Collect also lets you intentionally send information to destinations you select. Those destinations are not service providers receiving information automatically from Collect.

5. Retention and deletion

• On-device information: remains until you delete entries, albums, exports, or backups, use an available reset/delete function, or remove the app. Removing the app normally removes its local app data, but not copies you exported or data already stored in iCloud.
• iCloud information: remains in your private iCloud database until you use Delete Collect Data from iCloud in Collect or remove it through Apple’s iCloud storage controls. Turning off iCloud Sync only stops future synchronization and does not delete existing iCloud information. Deleting iCloud data removes Collect’s synchronized records and media from CloudKit but does not delete the local journal on your device unless the deletion screen expressly says otherwise.
• Temporary exports: are removed from Collect’s temporary storage after the export or sharing flow, although the destination copy remains.
• Local support logs: are stored in the app’s cache and limited to the most recent 300 lines.
• Analytics and support: are retained for the periods described above.

Deletion may not be immediate from backups or systems where temporary retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or reliable operation.

6. Your choices and privacy requests

You can:

• create and delete journal content in Collect;
• choose whether to enable iCloud Sync, reminders, app locking, and optional permissions;
• stop future analytics collection at any time by turning off Share Usage Analytics in Settings > About;
• delete synchronized Collect data using Delete Collect Data from iCloud without deleting the local journal, unless you separately choose to do so;
• change system permissions in iOS Settings;
• review information before exporting or sending a support email; and
• request access to, correction of, or deletion of information held by the App Developer by emailing support@updraftstudio.ai.

Because analytics uses a random installation identifier and no account or person profile, it may not be possible to associate a privacy request with a particular analytics record without additional information from your device. Turning off analytics takes effect immediately and prevents future analytics events from being sent.

7. Children

Collect is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. Collect does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, contact support@updraftstudio.ai.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Collect’s features or data practices change. The updated version will be posted at the same web address with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate way.
